Count Chocula Strikes

Celia is nothing if not resourceful. She will push the kitchen stools around and use them to climb and find her favorite.....chocolate! We've tried several different places and the only one she can't get yet is on top of the little china cabinet...but I can't reach it there either!

Please ignore the mess in the kitchen, we were shopping all morning.

The Walmart trip was a bust. They didn't have the detergent I was looking for AND, they stopped carrying fabric. Which really makes me mad because we used to have a Joann fabric, but they went out of business after Walmart opened up. So now if I want fabric, I have to drive 25 minutes to the mall. I hate the freaking mall.......

The one saving grace of the trip was Celia's little song she made up. She's all strapped in to her little seat just singing "Two good friends, you and me....two good friends, you and me" ..... "You my friend mommy?" It was absolutely adorable.

I'm trying to get moving and get some stuff done while Celia is napping (well, supposed to be napping, I hear her jabbering away up there) but I've been horribly achy this week. First I thought maybe I was getting kidney stones because of a dull, burny pain in my back. But it didn't get bad (like kidney stones would) and saturday I felt fine. Then my throat started hurting and I was sneezey and achy again, so I was worried I was getting the flu (which would be a first, I don't think I've ever had it). But by yesterday my cold symptoms were gone (they were never bad, no fever even) and I still get achey on and off. Now I think I'm just getting old and don't want to move when it's cold outside! Ack.....I'm not even 30. I better get over that quick!

Jordan the Incredible!

Well, yesterday was a very good day for Jordan. He brought home his report card. He's really been stressing about, and he did great! He has a 3.41 GPA, all of his grade came up. His semester GPA was a 3.2, mostly from a C in math he got first 9 weeks (it always takes him awhile to kind of settle into school each year). Plus all the comments on his card say what a good independent worker he is, great student, those kinds of things! That impresses me even more than the grades....because I KNOW he's smart....but boy does he loves to talk! He usually has a comment on there about talking in class, but none this time!

His orthodontist appointment went pretty well. He was extraordinarily nervous, but made it through. He only needs a little pair of braces on his front, top teeth. Nothing on the bottom at all. Cost isn't too bad....still more than we have, but we'll find it somewhere.

Then we came home for the evening and the sidewalks needed shoveled, and that kid LOVES to shovel snow. All in all, a very good day for him.

Celia was her normal happy self, took an okay nap....didn't get into much other than the cereal!

Today I've got to get moving and go to Walmart (yuck, I hate Walmart), though maybe I'll be really motivated and get to Target (which I love....but don't want to drive that far twice in one day...Jordan has guitar lessons in Morgantown today). At some point I've got to make time to potty train Celia. I feel really bad about it, because I think she's ready and she could do it.....if only I could block out a couple of days at home! If I'm really lucky I'll find some cute fabric at Walmart and be able to cover pillows for the family room. I want something "fun" for the kids....

And those darn pictures on the wall....I worked on them some more and now we have a fish on the wall! It's not as obvious so I think I'll leave it!

A video for Grandma...

Here's a video of Celia, playing with her dollhouse and playing guitar:

What a mess!

Celia is on a search for yogurt pieces in Special K this morning! She's nothing if not resourceful!

I'm also quite unhappy with my pictures I hung last night. I had all of our pictures hanging on one wall in the living room, but we got a new picture of my in-laws for Christmas (that's right) and ran out of room on my little wall. So I decided to move them all to a larger wall (plus I was just on some "I'm not happy so I need to change everything right now" decorating binge yesterday). I made paper shadows of each one, got them taped where I liked, put up the nails. Then I hung my pictures and lo and behold, I have a perfectly symmetrical pyramid of pictures on my wall! Totally not what I was going for.

So I need to fix that today!

Celia and I are thinking of going shopping. We need to go to Walgreens to get some free toilet paper (yay) and Target to get some more almost free cereal to feed her little yogurt clump habit. I'm kind of waiting to see what the weather does though. The school around here do crazy things like send kids home in the middle of the day for some flurries, so I need to stick close to home if it looks bad. I'm currently without a cell phone (got tired of paying Sprint an arm and a leg for something I rarely use!) so I'm afraid I would miss the closing announcement and not be home when Jordan got here!

Jordan gets his report card today and has an orthodontist appointment...so it's a big day for him!

Chris and I started cleaning out his half of the basement. Mine is mess since we're remodeling the bathroom above it and need the space to cut wood and other messy things, but there's no reason Jordan can't have his Fooseball table down in Chris's half so his little room isn't so cramped. Plus, then he can be as loud and rowdy as he wants, no matter if Celia is sleeping or not.

Intro to Me.

Okay. So last year I thought it would be a good idea to start keeping a journal. I did really well, wrote every day....but using Word was kind of a pain. Then Chris (my husband, for anyone who doesn't know me) bought me this cute little MacBook for Christmas....so I've been trying a few other things. MacJournal was okay.....but I never could figure out if I could put pictures in there. Plus, it cost $40 and this is free, so I thought I'd give it a shot.

This whole thing started when Chris's Grandma passed away. We now have boxes and boxes in our basement of his families photos and some of her journals. I had the greatest time just reading through them, looking for snippets about Chris or his mom and dad. I'm hoping that one day my kids and grandkids will read through my stuff and laugh (or occassionally be shocked! there's some fun in that too!)

Now, when I started this whole thing......I said to myself that I was not going to be...well, let's be honest here....bitter and angry (like many of grandma's journals were!). I've found it's really impossible....so maybe I'm a bitter and angry person...or maybe the whole journaling thing just gets emotion spilling out of people. You can make your own call on that.

You're also going to find lots of stories of my chilren. I'm a pretty typical mother, biased to a fault. They both are just the cutest little things and I do believe they might change the world when they grow up. I like recording the little things the do every day to remember forever. I wish I had started this when Jordan was a baby because I'm worried that one day I'll forget all those little things he's done and gone through. Even when I just read through what I've written in the past year I surprise myself with how much stuff I've forgotten.

More about me....well, I'm a Christian. Lately I've been spending a lot of time doing Bible research (that's right, reading non-fiction for fun. That officially makes me a dork, in case you had any doubt on that account!). I also read fiction a lot. I'm a stay at home mom, and I'm really happy doing that. I'm getting into this whole domestic thing and I'm really glad it's something we're (as a family) able to do. I used to teach music....I might again one day. Even if it's just giving a few lessons. I also like to scrapbook, cook, decorate the house......and shop! I have a bargain shopping obsession! That's really not a bad thing, because if you like to shop a lot you might as well figure out how to not spend all your money doing it!

Okay, that's enough background. You're just going to have to pick up the rest as we go!
